2005 - 2009
It's hard to explain, but MEDleys really WAS my college experience: it gave me an outlet to express myself, it gave me a place to build my management and organization skills, it gave me friendships I will forever love and cherish and it gave me memories that still make me smile. It's hard to imagine what UCLA would have been like without it, and I'm sure I would have been a very different person had I never had the experience of working and playing with such a tight-knit group of people for four years.
I remember it very clearly (please excuse my story-teller interlude): One afternoon during the first few weeks of school, the group got together to sing on Bruinwalk for publicity and hype up our upcoming auditions. There weren't very many people about and most students just walked right by us, but one girl stopped, stared and then started frantically searching for her phone. She dialed a number and held the phone up so that the person on the line could hear. When we finished she then came up to us and said "Thank You." She explained that the year before we had done a performance for the kids at Shriner's Hospital in Los Angeles where we sang for her little sister (who had recently undergone surgery for a serious spinal condition) and her mother. She told us that her mother's spirits had been lifted by our performance and that we helped to re-kindle hope that her youngest daughter would still go on to do many wonderful, active things despite her surgery. In her words, "You guys just made everything so much better." The person whom she had called to listen on the other line was her mother. It is moments like this are what make MEDleys such a rewarding and unique experience.

I hope so! I'm still searching for the right group.....who knows? Maybe I'll start a MEDleys of my own.
